Dear Parents,

Happy New Year to you and your families. 

Over the last term the NBPA have followed through on their commitments to the school and a fantastic new cricket square and long jump pit are ready and waiting to be put to good use by all the boy’s this summer. In addition to these we have provided funds for the Science Dept to create a new garden area and weather station to be situated next to the science block. This will enable the boys not only to study wildlife and grow their own but also collate data and follow weather patterns. Mrs Arney and the Junior School have been given funding to provide play equipment for all the boys to enjoy at outdoor playtime.

This term we have been asked to help the school to give the Tennis courts a much needed revamp. The courts are used by the whole school throughout the entire year for both tennis and as a playground. They are in a sorry state and will require significant amount of ground work as well as a complete new surface. The NBPA have agreed to help the school by funding the resurfacing, remarking and installing some basket ball hoops. This will make it a much more pleasant environment for all the boys. Work will start during the Easter break and will be finished for the start of the Summer Term. Please look on the NBPA website at the picture under Current Projects.

Spring term always seems to be quiet but this year we have two events. A Valentines Disco will take place on 10Th February for years 7 & 8. This will be held in the Sports Hall and we have invited Walthamstow Hall and Solefields to join us. We are looking for Volunteers to help with the event (if you child is not attending). More importantly for the parents we will be hosting an Olympic Party on the 17Th March, there will be dinner and dancing. The details are yet to be finalised but please save the date. Tickets will go on sale early March.

This is the term we can all sign up and join the New Beacon Seals. Being in Seals means you can use the New Beacon swimming pool throughout the Easter and Summer holidays. Details about joining will be with you all soon via e-mail and I hope to see many of you poolside.
