The structure of the school means we know each and every boy, his character, personality and strengths.

The initial point of contact for parents is the Form Teacher – especially in the Junior School, where boys spend much of their time in the form room. There are also heads of each section of the school:

Head of Junior School ~ Mrs Arney
Head of Pre-Prep ~ Mrs Ross.

For each year group, there are frequent ‘Parents’ Information Evenings’ to keep you informed of what the boys are doing, what we are trying to do and to keep you in touch with the continuum of education. In addition there are annual parent-teacher evenings. Full written reports are sent to parents in December and July with interim, slightly shorter reports, sent home at the end of the spring term.

Education is a partnership, between school, parent and pupil. It works most effectively when there is good communication between all parties.

Chapel plays an important part in the life of The New Beacon. There are regular services at the end of Friday afternoons, with a good range of visiting preachers. There are also four informal lunchtime services each term. Boys, parents and staff are encouraged to play an active part in all these services. The Chapel Choir regularly leads our services to a high standard. Religious and spiritual education is based on Christian teachings and values with due regard and respect paid to other beliefs and religions.
