I would recommend that you have a good browse around this section. I would like you to click on the Amphibians picture at the bottom of the page; you will see a panel of photos of different animals on the bottom of the page ( the first is the Red Barbed Ant) and the amphibians can be seen by clicking on the arrow to the right of the panel of pictures. You will then see a short paragraph about amphibians at the bottom of the page and there is a link to ‘Read more’ – click on this. Watch the short video of Sir David Attenborough talking about amphibians. Then answer the following questions in FULL sentences. Why are frogs so important for ecosystems? ( he gives 2 reasons) Which disease affecting humans may increase with the disappearance of amphibians? AND why would this happen? What are the reasons for the loss of amphibian species worldwide? (he gives 3 reasons). What is Chytridiomycoses disease? How does it affect amphibians? How could Zoos help to halt the slide of loss of amphibians? On the same page as the video is a section entitled Edge Amphibians. 1. What does EDGE stand for? 2. Name two different species of Edge amphibians. Watch the short video of Helen Meredith talking about EDGE amphibians. Then click on About ZSL conservation (you will see this option on the top left of the page. Write the heading ZSL conservation. Then list the first 4 aims of the ZSL. Then click on Conservation Programmes and then Conservation Breeding. Go to the bottom of the page to ZSL Projects. Name the six Uk species that are in the ZSL project list. If you wish you might like to look at the Tiger. This one of the species in the panel of photos seen at the bottom of the page you first visited ie Conservation. 1. For what reasons are the numbers of tigers decreasing? Go to the Zoo Tigers and conservation page. 2. What are the 4 aims of zoo tiger conservation? 3. How many sub species are there? Name them? 4. What is meant by the genetic lifeboat? 5.
