Well done to George (8A) and Luke (7C) who represented Sevenoaks Hockey Club in their respective teams at the 32nd International Hockey Tournament, hosted at the prestigious Club de Polo de Barcelona over 7th to 9th December.  Over 90 teams took part from countries such as Belgium, The Netherlands, England and Spain in age groups from U9 through to U13.

George and Luke were in the U13 and U11 teams respectively. The U13’s won all of their group matches and finished top of their group. They then had a very tough semi-final match against FC Barcelona which they ended up winning 2-0 on penalty shuffles. The final saw them matched against the very good host side, RC Polo in what was a very noisy, nail biting encounter which ended with the boys winning 1-0 and taking the gold medal!

Luke’s team were in a group with teams from Brighton, Belgium and the hosts, RC Polo. Luke’s team also performed brilliantly winning their 3rd/4th place playoff against RS Tenis securing a bronze medal.

The boys had a great weekend, interacting with girls and boys from the many clubs from different European countries.
