On Monday 13 May, Year 7 visited Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament. Our tour, led by some excellent guides, around the Abbey was very informative. The boys were keen to see the latest addition to the gravestones, that of Stephen Hawking who is alongside Sir Issac Newton and Charles Darwin. Other highlights were the Coronation Chair, the numerous royal tombs and the Henry VII Chapel. In the afternoon, we visited the Houses of Parliament for a tour of both the Commons and the Lords and this was followed with a workshop on ‘Representation and Voting’. For an added bonus, Sir Michael Fallon, our local MP, also stopped by to answer a few questions from the boys. To finish off a lovely day, before our train back to Sevenoaks, we had Pizza at Pizza Express on The Strand. It was an excellent day out and we were blessed with the weather.
