First VI football squad: Zac S, Freddie W, Tiger B, William J, William T, Jonny V, Henry L, Oscar A.
Many congratulations to the boys above who have competed recently in two very gruelling football tournaments for the school.  Last Saturday the squad reached the semi final of the John Norman Cup, losing out to the eventual and deserved winners, Yardley Court.

On Wednesday this week the boys travelled to Wellesley House to defend the Shapira Cup.  Having played some excellent and some not so pretty football in the group stages(!), the team qualified for the semi finals where they convincingly triumphed 2-0 over the hosts with some fantastic and eye catching play.  A particular highlight was Freddie W’s goal direct from the kick-off.  The boys faced St Edmund’s in the final where we found ourselves 2-0 up at half time.  Great credit must go not only to our boys, but the team from St Edmund’s too, who battled back to score an equaliser with the last touch of the game to make it 2-2.  The Shapira Cup final does not go to a penalty shootout so the Cup was shared by both schools.   Well done boys on a fantastic achievement and retaining the trophy was testament to great dedication, belief and hard work all round.
