The New Beacon community has been hard at work during lock down, helping with the resourcing of two new local Covid-19 assessment units, the first already operational Tonbridge School & the 2nd opening this week Sevenoaks School. Our fantastic estate staff have been delivering prescriptions for Paydens & the Hildenborough Medical Centre, along with sourcing & transporting supplies to the two assessment units.
A team of current & ex parents led by Mrs Silva & Mrs Rodgers (thanks also to Mrs Iqbal, Mrs Stone, Mrs van Tiggelen & Mrs Harrison) have managed to source an extraordinary collection of equipment, protective clothing & cleaning equipment. They also put the units in touch with local companies, whose generous donations include the marquees Party Doctors, security & remote wifi installation (CHS Networks Ltd.), supplies of precious PPE (Nicola Holmes of Wettons & Patrick O’Keefe, O’Keefe’s), mobile hand sets (the Schaeffer family), food deliveries to sites from the local M&S & so much more. Signage has been designed by our very own Mr Vincent & produced by Knock Out Print in Matfield and Kall Kwik Sevenoaks Print & Design.
Current New Beacon parent, Mr Llewllyn, has been part of a small, tight group who have helped to design the masks that are currently being rolled out by Mr Biddle Tonbridge School & his crew. He also set up www.make-more-masks.com & demand from under resourced hospitals, care homes & hospices is making the production of these in school DT departments a necessity. Mr Barratt has, of course, been hard at work here creating the visors.
Last but not least, huge thanks go to you, the New Beacon community, as you have answered our urgent requests for bum bags, spare thermometers, antibacterial wipes, mask components & so much more with your usual generosity & efficiency. The NBPA has also been extraordinarily generous with a significant financial contribution & sourcing many oximeters which will be sent out to homes as and when necessary. Without the help & tireless work & generosity of all involved, these sites would not yet be functioning.
I know that you will join me in thanking Dr Perry, Governor & former parent of New Beacon & GP who, with her practice colleagues, have set up the Tonbridge site, & Dr Lay, former Governor & New Beacon parent, GP & founder of the Sevenoaks unit with her colleagues at the Amherst Medical Practice for all their tireless work & effort, both in the last weeks & in the weeks to come. Lucy Piercy.
