On Monday, 1st February, Year 4 participated in a live webinar with Barney Millard at RHS Wisley.  He explained how the rainforest climate differs from our own and how plants have adapted in extraordinary ways to their environment.  Barney was able to show the boys examples of adaptations such as drip tips, waxy leaves and epiphytes from the Teaching Greenhouse.  He also took the boys on a ‘virtual’ visit of Wisley’s impressive Glasshouse to see some of the plants the boys have been learning about in situ including orchids, bromeliads, banana and cocoa plants.  The boys have truly been inspired by this fascinating experience, producing some amazing work on rainforest plant adaptations.
