Y5 have recently begun their study of the First World War, and one of the early topics they tackle is recruitment and how the British government encouraged young men to join the armed forces in the early stages of the conflict. In their ‘virtual classroom’, Y5 talked about the style of posters seen in 1914 including the use of language and imagery as well as appealing to the young recruits’ patriotism. The boys were then tasked with producing a poster of their own in the style of that seen in 1914-Britian. Here is a selection.
