Year 6 tested their empathy skills in this week’s Classical Civilisation lesson. Boys became Athenian citizens facing a big dilemma in 427 BC: what to do with the people of Mytilene, a city on the island of Lesbos, where a revolt against Athenian rule had just been put down. Boys addressed the Assembly on the New Beacon Pnyx, recommending various courses of action: all reasoned and shared with passion, purpose and varying degrees of compassion!
