What an achievement for the New Beacon’s under 11 football team! The boys have made it to the Nationals competition which will take place at Millfield School at the end of November. We won 3 matches, drew 1 and lost 1, scoring 7 fantastic goals and conceding only 1 to finish top of our group. Then we played Yateley Manor in the quarter final. It was a tough game and we only managed to score the winning goal in the last minute to finish the game 2-1. So it’s all getting exciting, we needed one more win from our final 2 games and we’d make it to the Nationals! We played Downsend in the semi and got off to a very promising start as we pressed them high up on the pitch. We managed to steal the ball to score an outstanding goal, soon after that a couple of decisions by the referee didn’t go our way and we conceded a late equaliser in the first half. Even though it was physically tough, the boys fought very well but unfortunately we lost the battle. So we had only one more chance by winning our final game, third and fourth play off which we fortunately did. What a fantastic effort and achievement by the boys. Well done all.
