Once again the PSRA Hammond Cup was the only National shooting competition to run this term with all schools intensely focused on this event.

As holders of the cup between Spring 2020 and Spring 2021 the club is competing to win the trophy back. The last time we lost the trophy it took us 2 terms of re-building and success came on the 3rd occasion; we are aiming to repeat our strategy & coaching process to deliver the Cup next term.

NBS Rifle Club’s position in the competition was not a great surprise as we have a big intake of novices this term showing great potential but with no match / competition experience. The experience they are gaining in this competition, the Inter Company Cup competition and end of term rapid fire contest quickly builds their ability to compete and deliver consistency in their results under competitive stress so performance will only improve from here. We will look to resume shoulder to shoulder school matches, matches against NB staff (the Headmaster’s VIII), visits to senior school ranges and even matches against parents as soon as we practically can.

Success this year is achievable. Based on scores already achieved this term on our range, we have teams that can already shoot 385, 381, 378 & 374. The focus now is achieving consistency & delivering results in competitive environment.
