This week we have had seven of our Year 8 boys competing for Scholarships at Tonbridge School.

Sport: William S; George S; Joshua D; Huw T (well done to Huw for participating on the day with a knee injury sustained at the Tonbridge Rugby Festival)
Drama: Toby S; Huw T
DT: Guy G
Art: James D

They have all worked so hard in preparing for these Scholarships. Of course, there can only be one recipient of a Scholarship in each category and there was no doubt some stiff competition from boys in other schools. Whatever the outcome, we are indeed proud of each of them.

Special thanks must also be extended to all of the staff who have assisted the boys with their preparation for the big day. Mrs Armstrong has been absolutely brilliant in getting Huw and Toby ready for the Drama Scholarship. These two boys entertained the Year 7 and 8 cohort in the theatre on the day before going to Tonbridge School. The audience of staff and boys thoroughly enjoyed what proved to be an outstanding show.  Mr Barrett and Mrs Jackson have also contributed much to the DT and Art portfolios of Guy and James. William, George, Joshua and Huw will no doubt have appreciated the input from their various sports coaches at The New Beacon as well as from Mr Dunlop.

We wish Jola R all the very best as he will shortly be challenging for a Sports Scholarship at Sevenoaks and well done to Miles Parker who was awarded a Sports Scholarship to Beechwood. Findlay M attended the Millfield School Sports assessment day in October.
