This past Wednesday the U13 hockey team took part in the UKSA South East Regional hockey tournament. The tournament consisted of 16 schools from the Surrey, Kent and Sussex areas.
The boys started the day with a narrow loss to Seaford College. Once the first game nerves were out of the way they performed brilliantly, winning the next two games where they scored eight times and only conceded one. This meant that we qualified to go through to the Cup competition. In order to become UKSA South East champions, the boys had to win the next three games and they were up for the challenge. We faced Reigate Grammar in the quarter finals, winning 2-1. The next match was against Windelsham House where the boys really showed their class, having the majority of the play and winning 1-0. In the final we were to face Seaford college again. There was little to choose between the two teams and the match ended 0-0. Penalty shuffles would decide the overall winner. In a tense end to the tournament, The New Beacon triumphed over the opposition, taking the overall title. Well done to all involved and thank you to the parents who came to support. The boys have been an absolute joy to coach and thoroughly deserved to end the season on a real high.
