Declamations, our annual poetry speaking competition, took place on Wednesday morning. Boys from Years 5-8 recited a diverse range of poems ranging from Wordsworth, Hardy and Shakespeare to Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. Several boys also chose poems around themes of war…and peace, showing clearly how poetry has the power to resonate through the ages. The boys all performed with aplomb in front of their peers and teachers, and choosing winners seemed an invidious task. But, in the end, Alex P (6A) was declared the Middle School Winner and Jacob B (7C) triumphed in the Senior School section. Well done to them and to all the boys who performed.
