Having battled his way through the qualifiers in September, Rory (6C) was in table tennis action once again last weekend at The Butterfly National School Table Tennis Championships in Wolverhampton, representing both Kent and The New Beacon.

Rory got off to a flying start, rattling off three straight-set wins against the champions of Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Cumbria.  However, England’s no. 2 ranked player was up next and despite a valiant effort, Rory was unable to defeat this very talented player – who went on to win the Championships.

Rory can certainly hold his head high, however, having competed against some of the best table-tennis players in the country. No doubt he’ll return again next year – come the time we’ll wish him the best of luck!
