The New Beacon U11s were among 24 teams from across the country competing at the ISFA National Football Finals on Tuesday at St George’s Park (home of the England Football Teams training facilities).

With stiff competition, Group B was always going to be tough, with only two qualifying for the knock out stages and so it proved. However, with a record of Played 5, Won, 2, Drew 1 and with two narrow defeats the team of Jack HW, Bryn T, Alex M, Louis A, James S, Oliver F, Rory S and Max H missed out on qualification by the narrowest of margins. In fact 1 goal in the final match would have seen us through.  Highlights included fine victories over Elstree (2 v 0) and Leeds Grammar (2 v 0), but our best performance came in a narrow 1 goal defeat v Whitgift, who were eventually knocked out by the winners,  Manchester Grammar. It was a sterling effort by the boys and they were a credit to themselves and the school.
