Blue skies, a hot, sunny day and a coach load of excited Y1 boys…so began our trip to Hastings. Our first port of call was the Blue Reef Aquarium where the boys were intrigued by the black tipped reef sharks and other interesting fish.  Ali the Aquarist guided us through the aquarium and the boys learnt many interesting facts about sea creatures. Then it was off to The Mermaid and Fish Hut restaurants where tasty fish and chips were the order of the day. After lunch, we went to the Fishermen’s Museum where we saw many fascinating artefacts from Hastings’ past. The boys got to sit in a fishing boat and were told what it was like to be a fisherman long ago.  Next, we headed to the beach where the boys spent time beach combing; many treasures (some rather smelly) were added to their backpacks. A brisk walk past the fish huts took us back to the coach. After  a most enjoyable and successful day, we headed home with a coach load of tired boys.
