This week there was great excitement as the boys in 2JB donned protective beekeeper suits and headed off to meet our two new colonies of bees in the wooded area near the Outdoor Classroom.

Our expert apiarist, Mr Jackson, gave all the boys a talk about honeybees and the role of the queen, the drones and the worker bees.  He opened one of the hives up and the boys got up close to the bees and inspected the cells housing newly laid eggs and the ones that contained the larvae, pupae, pollen and honey.

The boys were full of questions and learned so much.  What a fabulous learning experience.  Thank you, Mr Jackson.

Next week is the turn of our other Year 2 class.
