2RR visited The New Beacon beehives this week. With a lot of excitement, each small group dressed up in the beekeeping clothing and on their way they went. Mr Jackson expertly informed the boys about our honeybees and carefully dismantled the hive to show the boys the thousands of bees, honeycomb, honey and identified the workers from the drones. One group even caught a glimpse of a baby bee hatching! It was a superb way for the boys to spend an hour of the afternoon and another great way to get them involved in nature. A big thank you to Mr Jackson, who gave up his time to be with us; the boys loved every second.
