LET’S SEE WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK!
ISFA U11 Regional champions
Many congratulations to our Colts As football team for being crowned Regional Champions. The boys have enjoyed a great day of football, with strong and impressive performances against some tough opposition. In the group stages, they won two games 2-0, drew one game 0-0, and narrowly lost against St Christopher’s The Hall, (who we ended up facing again in the final.)
We progressed to the knockout stage, and pulled off a remarkable comeback against Brighton College after going a goal down. In the semi-final, we were up against Yardley Court, the tournament favourites, and after conceding early the boys worked really hard to dominate the second half, score an equaliser and win the penalty shootout to reach the final. Our final game against St Christopher’s again saw the boys determined to get their revenge, and they fought hard, scoring two beautiful goals. The game finished 2-0, with The New Beacon bringing home the well-deserved trophy.
Well done to all the boys who turned up for Cross Country Club on Wednesday morning.
The boys braved the weather, and all did their best Usain Bolt impression before setting off!!!
Please remember your football boots for next weeks run. Mr Young.
School Council Elections 2023
On Friday, 22 September, all boys from Year 5 to Year 8 had the opportunity to cast their votes
for their Form Representative and Year 8 President of the School Council, following a hustings, in which the seven Presidential candidates (Jack C, Harry G, Josh G, Leo G, Jasper J, Murad K and Fraser T) laid out their manifestoes. Voting was conducted through a democratic secret ballot and the following boys were duly elected to serve their forms and the wider school. Congratulations to them all!

A Week in Year 2
Year 2 have had a fantastic start to the year and we have enjoyed getting to know our new classes! In Maths, we have been exploring the number system and boys have revised place value using different resources. In R.S. we are learning about Hinduism. Boys now know it is the oldest religion in the world, it originates from India and most boys were able to locate India on a world map. This week we focused on Aum, which we learnt Hindus believe was the original sound in the universe and it is said by Hindus every morning. We then had a lovely session closing our eyes and saying the sound. We all felt very relaxed after that! In Art, we have looked at our Topic subject of the stories of Katie Morag. We used charcoal to start drawing animals that can be found on the Isle of Struay and some children began colouring using pastels. The boys’ observation skills are fantastic and they did very well drawing the animals from different perspectives. What a fabulous start to our year!
