We have definitely noticed that Autumn is on its way this week. Our school is looking glorious with all the lovely leaves on the trees turning a beautiful colour. The children have enjoyed exploring their surroundings and there are never enough conkers to be collected and counted! We do encourage you all to go outside over the weekend and enjoy observing these changes in seasons, our planet truly is a wonderful place. Open Day is next week, so if you know of anyone who is looking for a Nursery or School place, please do pass on to them about this.

Music and Harvest Service
Harvest is next week! Please do try to come along and watch the very special services. These will be held in our St George’s Chapel on the school site.

Nursery Harvest Service is Monday, 9 October at 9:30 am.
Reception Harvest Service is Thursday, 12 October at 9.30am.

We would be most grateful for donations of non-perishable food as well as one piece of fruit or a vegetable to make a harvest basket from your son’s harvest gifts. This food will be donated to the Sevenoaks Larder and the Loaves and Fishes Foodbank, both of which support families across the Sevenoaks District. Your son should bring these gifts to their classroom.

Head’s Art Competition
Calling all budding artists, the inaugural Head’s Art Competition is running until the end of half term giving plenty of time to pick up the pencils/paintbrushes/oils or crayons! The entry should be A4 size but can be portrait or landscape and the theme for this term is ‘New Beginnings’. The winning entries will be exhibited in Mrs Brownsdon’s Study.

Reflective Armbands
When the pupils return to school after the half-term break, it is a requirement that, with the darker mornings and evenings, they wear their reflective armbands to and from school. These need to be pinned to their outermost garment and clearly named. Your son will be issued a set of armbands and the cost will be added to your end of term bill.

Nursery Notices

Please could parents let Mrs Beresford know if your child is not going to be coming in on a day that we are expecting them. It takes a lot of time calling and emailing to find out where a child is and this then has a knock on effect to our day and makes us late for other things we have planned. Similarly, if you are going to be late, please let us know as we may be going out of the Nursery so may not be here when you arrive.

Please do email Mrs Beresford photos of things you do over the weekend as this gives us lots of chances to talk as a group. We are beginning to add photos to our board, your child’s photo is already up there, can I please ask that everyone emails in a family photo that we can add to their photo.

If your child has not already got a pair of crocs here, a reminder that all children need a pair that can stay in Nursery.

Please don’t send toys in with children, it is really hard keeping track of them and children don’t want to share toys they bring in from home.

Next week’s letter sound is “s” and the theme for the week will be “Autumn”.

Reception Notices

We have been reading stories about families this week. We have read a book called ‘The Great Big Book of Families’ which shows the boys that all families are different. Some families are big, and some are small, some have lots of children, some have one child etc. We then talked about the differences between ourselves, and that we all have different families. We also spoke about family members who live in other countries. Books really do bring so many different discussions to their lives. The boys have also enjoyed reading the book ‘Here We Are’ in Assembly. So many discussions have come from this book. We have spoken about caring for our planet, the creatures that live on it and also about respecting each other, and again, that we are all different.

Next week we will focus on Autumn. Perhaps this weekend you could go for an Autumn Walk with your son. We would love to receive lots of Autumn things that you may find such as acorns, conkers, leaves, beech nuts etc. We have sent you a Teams Assignment with lots of ideas.

We have arranged a class trip to Pumpkin Moon, Maidstone on Friday, 20 October.  Do feel free to look at their website Pumpkin Moon if you would like to know more about it. The plan is to go pumpkin picking with the boys which links nicely to our Autumn topic and of course to Halloween. Please click here for all the details and how to sign up.

Teams Assignments
This weekend we have sent your son another two Teams Assignment. One is related to Autumn and the other is related to our RWI scheme. There are three parents that have not yet logged into Teams. Please let me know if you need any help. Please use the Office 365 log in details sent home in their yellow books to log into the Teams app on your device. Here is a link to the group. Enjoy!

RWI Session
Thank you to everyone who attended the RWI session today. Please find attached the slides which were shown, and there are accompanying resources in the book bag for you to use at home.

Wedding Bells next week
Next week is a rather special week for myself and Mr Braidwood. We will not be in school on Friday 13th due to us getting married! However, your son’s will still have their usual lessons and be taught by other members of the Pre Prep staff.
