U10 5-a-side Tournament at Hawthorns School

Last Saturday saw theU10A 5-a-side squad competing in a tournament at Hawthorns School in glorious October sunshine. This tournament was a league format, rather than the more familiar ‘knock-out’ style of festival the boys are used to. The boys competed against some very well coached and larger schools from the wider area, winning three and drawing three matches over the duration of the morning. They were only one of two teams to finish the tournament undefeated, finishing as eventual runners up. Well done to all the boys who look part: Milo, William S, William M, Matthew, Leo and Ben – you did the school proud!

GB Shooting Team Member ranked inside the Top 20 in the World visits The New Beacon.

New Y6 members of The New Beacon Rifle Club had a surprise visit on Tuesday, 10 October from Mike Bargeron – Current Team GB member currently ranked inside the Top 20 in World Rankings for 0.22 Rifle Shooting; and Sevenoaks School’s shooting master.

Mike brought along some of his more impressive 2023 haul of medals. Including Silver and Bronze medals in this years ISSF Grand Prix as well as several National Champion medals in both Rifle and Air Rifle disciplines.

The boys were very excited to hear about the achievements behind each medal and very attentive during his coaching and trying out his tips on how to shoot more accurately. He told the boys that he only started shooting at 14 and that with the head start at NBSRC the boys could be better than him which had several boys thinking quietly to themselves!

Sevenoaks School have kindly extended the NBSRC an invitation to host a school shooting match using their fantastic facilities which we will be taking up in The New Year.

Finally, selections for the NBSRC Team of 5 boys to represent the school in the National Under Fourteen League (UFL) concludes this week with the competition carded to be shot next week.

Open Morning

What an incredible Open Morning today in spite of the rain!  We were delighted to receive nothing but positive feedback and praise from all the prospective parents who visited us today. Thanks to everyone for their hard work making sure that every aspect ( right down to finding enough umbrellas!) went smoothly. The boys were a credit to the school, as always, and impressed our visitors enormously with their unscripted tours and stunning musical performances.
