As we get closer to the end of term, the excitement builds for the opening of our new Nursery building. New furniture and equipment have been arriving and we visit daily to see the changes. The children in Nursery are really excited and so are the staff! Next week is the start of transition, and we just cannot wait.

Christmas is also getting closer. You can hear bells ringing around the corridors, costumes being made and tried on, and decorations are starting to be made. As we get closer to the end of term, the children do get tired and excited, so we urge you to keep the after-school activities to a minimum, and lots of early nights.

Have a lovely weekend

Christmas Fayre – 8 December 2023
As you are probably aware, we are trying something new this year – The New Beacon Christmas Fayre will be run by the boys in Years 5-8 and Santa’s Grotto will be run by the NBPA.  All boys attending the Fayre must bring in £5 or an unused Fun Card (leftover from the Summer Fete) and hand to their class teacher on the morning of the Christmas Fayre, Friday,  8 December. In return for their £5 they will be given a Fun Card to spend on the game stalls.  Please see the poster below and check your parent emails for more information:

From Monday, 27 November, please bring in your Christmas Jumpers that no longer fit any members of the family. Then from Monday, 4 December we shall be selling them for £5 to raise money for Save the Children charity and help everyone to wear a Christmas Jumper for our Christmas Jumper Days at the end of term. Please click here for more details.

Drop off / Collection Times
Please ensure you drop off and collect your sons at the correct times. Boys arriving before 8:00am should be booked into early morning/breakfast club (arrivals prior to this cannot be supervised and therefore boys cannot come into the Central Area, JS Street/Library, School Room or their Form Rooms until 8:00am). We have had a number of boys arriving very early recently and roaming the building.  If your son is staying later than the usual end to the school day, he must be attending a booked activity, Pre-Prep Activities Club or JS Prep Club (both need to be booked whilst Prep for Years 5-8 does not). If staying later than this, he must be booked into After School Club.  The collection point for Pre-Prep After School Club is the Nursery Gate, please do not go through the Central Area.

Please remember to sign younger brothers into the Pre-Prep Activities Club until the older brother collects them.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Late Collection and Changes to ASC Bookings
A reminder that you must communicate with Mrs Harding Julie.harding@newbeacon.org.uk for all late notice changes to pupil collection for Reception and Nursery children, rather than Mrs Beresford or Mrs Taylor and Mr Braidwood. Many thanks.

Nursery News

Reading to Nursery
If anyone would like to come in to read a story to the children, we would really love it. The children love their parents coming in and it gives you an opportunity to see some of the lovely work the children have been doing. If you would like to come in to read, please email Mrs Beresford and we can arrange this. The best time is 2:30pm any day, which is just after our snack and before home time.

Nursery Christmas Carol Service – Wednesday, 13 December
We are working really hard to learn all our songs and actions for our Christmas Service. This really is a magical service that I am sure you will all enjoy as much as we enjoy. This service will be held in the Theatre.
