This week has certainly become very Christmassy! The Central Area has it’s own Christmas Tree, as do all the classrooms, and the Pre Prep is filled with Christmas cheer. We are still all very busy creating memories for the boys and there is always so much fun and learning that happens right up to the end of term!

We are all very excited for the big performances next week. A reminder that it is Reception’s Nativity on Monday at 9.30am and Nursery Carols at 9.30am! Everyone is invited to join us. There will be refreshments served in the New Nursery from 8.30 until the big performances on both days.

We still have many Christmas Jumpers for the younger children available in the Pre Prep entrance as part of our Christmas Jumper Swap. They are sold at a cost of £5 which goes to the Save The Children Charity. The boys can wear their Christmas Jumpers to school all next week!

It really is cold at the moment, and so extra layers are really important as it is really chilly and it’s easier to remove clothing than it is to add more. A reminder that the Reception boys should have a pair of navy gloves/mittens, school scarf and a school woolly hat. It is surprising how many boys don’t have these items in school.

The boys are also starting to get tired, unwell, and generally ready for the Christmas break! Please do make sure they go to bed at a good time, and that activities are light for the remainder of the term.

Have a lovely weekend, and Season’s Greeting to you all and your families.

Wraparound Care Arrangements for the last week of term

Please note Junior School and Pre-Prep clubs and activities finish on Friday, 8 December apart from Junior School Prep, Pre-Prep Activity club and Breakfast and After School club.  However, After School club will not run on the last day of term and Junior School Prep and Pre-Prep Activity club will finish by 1pm on that day.

Booking for Early Years Activity Club and Pre-Prep Activity Club
Both Early Years Activity Club (Nursery and Reception) and Pre-Prep Activity Club (Y1 and 2), which run daily from 3:30-5pm, will now be booked with via the school website and not on Schools Buddy. There is an option to book for the whole term if your dates won’t change. For Junior School Prep (Y3 and 4), you can also sign up via the school website, if you haven’t already signed up via Schools Buddy. From next term, JS Prep will include 30 minutes of prep and 30 minutes of a club. Y3 will attend the club first, followed by prep, and Y4 will do the opposite. Y3 parents are welcome to collect their son after the club has finished (at 4:30pm), so that they don’t attend prep. For all 3 clubs, please sign up by the Sunday for the week ahead.

Reception News

We have been trying hard to make decorations, cards, calendars etc etc. We have noticed that many boys need to practise using scissors to cut out different shapes. It is such an important skill which can only get better with practice and perseverance. We definitely notice that many boys are far too quick to give up, and ask for help without trying. Please can you support us with this at home.

The schools’ policy is that reading books are not taken home for the holidays. We will be giving each boy a Christmas Activity Booklet for the boys to do over the long break, if they wish to. There are Maths pages, recipes, colouring etc, and we are sure they will keep them occupied for a bit if you need some ‘me time’!

The next three days of school are a little different. There are no clubs on Wednesday. We will send home their fleeces, gloves, hats etc on the last day of term for a good wash.

You will receive a written report on Wednesday on the progress made in all areas of the curriculum. For some, there are suggestions on things that they could work on and practice before the start of next term. All the boys have made wonderful progress since September and it is good to keep the momentum going over the festive break, so that they are ready for the new challenges in the New Year. We return to school on Wednesday 9th January 2024!

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas, when it comes, and a very happy New Year, and thank you again for all your support this term.

Season’s Greetings,

Mrs Beresford, Mrs Griffiths, Mr Braidwood, Mrs Salt, Mr Eisawy and Mrs Taylor
