The Lunar New Year on Saturday February 10th, 2024 marks the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. The Pre-Prep and Junior school boys enjoyed doing a variety of activities today to celebrate Lunar New Year. They made Chinese lanterns, dragon fortune tellers, did some Chinese writing and even practised their chopstick skills. We are so grateful to all the parent volunteers who helped to make it such a memorable morning. Special thanks to Leo in 3SS who did a wonderful PowerPoint presentation explaining the history of this holiday and told us the story of the nasty monster Nian. Nian feared the colour red, and that is why people now wear red to commemorate this holiday. Happy Lunar New Year from everyone at The New Beacon.
