The half term holiday is upon us, and, in true New Beacon fashion we have concluded yet another packed week which kicked off with successes for the U13 and U12 Sevens teams in the Hudson Cup at Somerhill (runners-up and winners respectively), and culminated in the visit of Sir Lenny Henry, comedian, philanthropist, actor and now author.
Congratulations to Luca C who has been invited to represent Kent in a forthcoming Inter-Counties Cross-Country match in March, and best of luck to Alex Mi who will be taking part in the Kent trials for swimming.
Echoing Mr Knipe’s comments of last week, please continue to send in any details of out-of-school achievements (whether sporting, musical, theatrical or otherwise) of your sons so that we can highlight them in our weekly correspondence.
Finally, thank you to all the Year 7 parents who attended the two Parents’ Evenings this week – if you were unable to attend, or unable to meet with certain teachers, please do not hesitate to email them directly for feedback on your son. Email address can be found here: Contact Us
A few upcoming items to highlight:
School Ski Competitions – Years 4-8
At The New Beacon we are looking at entering teams in the ESKIA, IAPS & Precise Kents Schools Association Competitions. These competitions are spread out throughout the year and will give the boys who ski regularly and to a high ability a chance to represent the school in skiing on both an individual and team perspective. If you are interested in entering these competitions, please contact Mr Herbert on email@example.com
Team-building and Disco Evening at Walthamstow Hall for Years 7 and 8
Friday, 1 March – 6:30 – 9:30pm
Venue: The Main Hall, Walthamstow Hall.
Boys and girls who will be attending will take part in team-building activities, followed by a disco. There will be a Cash Tuck Shop. The ticket price will include squash and biscuits.
Tickets are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-booking is necessary.
These events are always good fun! The New Beacon will be hosting a disco in the summer term.
Reminder – Outdoor Shoes
Boys in the Senior School must bring in a pair of old trainers or ‘wellies’ so that their school shoes do not get damaged during breaks when the grass is wet. These outdoor shoes will be stored in the lockers alongside the lower playing fields.
A reminder that Mr Vincent has circulated links to all revision materials, and that the examination dates for year 8 boys are from Monday, 26 February to Thursday, 29 February.
I hope you have a lovely and safe half term break, and wish luck to any of you with teams in the Six Nations or African Cup of Nations!
