We have definitely filled our four day week with enough excitement and learning for a full week! The weather has decided to be kind to us this week, and we have taken every opportunity to learn outside. We are nearly half way through this half term already, and we have two more weeks to go. The boys are already getting tired, and with the lighter days, I expect some early risers too!

On Thursday,  16 May  we have our Whole School photograph. Can I ask that all Reception boys have their correct summer uniform on and nursery children have their uniform on, and dark coloured trainers/shoes on this day. If a Thursday is not your usual nursery day and you wish to take part in the whole school photograph, please come to Nursery for 10am. The boys can then be collected at 11.15am.

On Friday, 17 May  we have our Open Day. If you know of anyone who may be interested in joining our school, or would like to visit us, please send them this link to register.

Nursery News

We had a lovely day today wishing Mrs Beresford good luck as she leaves us to go to work in a different Nursery. The children attended the Pre-Prep and Junior School assembly and enjoyed listening to memories from the older boys in the Junior School. We also enjoyed a tea party this afternoon to celebrate Mrs Beresford. We wish her good luck and all our best wishes in her new adventure.

A reminder that Mrs Taylor will be taking over Mrs Beresford’s Key Children. If you need to communicate with anything related to Nursery, please do email myself, Mrs Taylor, for all your queries, notices and updates. marie.taylor@newbeacon.org.uk

I hope you have all received the email from Mrs Markies regarding our Parenting Sessions. The first one was held last week, and the next one is on Tuesday, 21 May, why children have challenging behaviour and how to help using strategies that work. Please click here for the form to complete and more information about all three remaining sessions.

As we enjoy the warmer weather this week, it reminds us of keeping ourselves safe in the sun. We have taken advantage of our lovely canopied area this week to keep ourselves protected. Please can you apply sun cream to your son each morning before coming into school. We will then have a bottle of factor 50 Nivea to top up. If you wish to provide your own sun cream instead of this, please bring it to nursery next week, ensuring it is named.

All the children in Nursery have been enjoying their phonics sessions this week. The older children are now able to use letters to read and make words, and the younger children are learning to orally blend sounds together to make words. Please do look at the online link to videos above associated with the phonics we have been doing in the main section of this letter.

Next week we shall be focusing on the life cycle of a chicken. If you have any books to share with the other boys, please do bring them in next week.
