A full week in the penultimate week of this half term. The children have enjoyed a multitude of activities related to eggs. One highlight was hearing the Reception boys talking about a large egg which appeared in the classroom. What was inside?! The discussions and thoughts shared with each other were magical. In Nursery, the boys enjoyed learning all about the animals which lay eggs, and the life cycle of these animals. Please read the ‘highlight section’ at the bottom of this page for more information about what our Early Years pupils have been up to this week.

THE NEW BEACON AND ROAD SAFETY
It has been noted and reported that a few parents are not adhering to the speed limit on the drive around the school at drop-off and pick-up times. All drivers are reminded that they must observe the speed limit, be vigilant as you drive on the campus and certainly not be using mobiles until you are stationary.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS
The whole school photo went really well and all your boys were a credit to you. We had to wait quite a while for everyone to be seated, and the weather wasn’t kind to us, but no one complained. I am sure the final product will be fabulous! These whole school photos are taken every two years. The class photos were also a pleasure to be a part of. The ordering information will be sent to you as soon as they are ready.

RWI
Please click HERE for this week’s links for your son’s RWI sessions. A reminder that these links are for all pupils from Nursery to Year 2. Next week the boys will have a break from the RWI scheme and focus on extended reading and writing activities in their English sessions. Mrs Taylor will also be undertaking the half termly RWI assessments, and a note will be put in the contact book for areas to develop and for a progress update. Many thanks as always for your continued support with your son’s reading.

We are nearly at the end of our ‘Changes’ topic, with just one week to go, which is all about the changes in the season from spring to summer. We can only wish for the weather to help play its part in this learning opportunity!

I would like to remind you that the end of the day in Nursery is 3.20pm. If you wish your son to stay later, please book him into the Early Years After School Club, via the website or by emailing Mrs Harding. Julie.harding@newbeacon.org.uk
