What a wonderful week we have had at school this week. The Nursery children have enjoyed exploring under the sea, and our Grandparents visit in Reception was blessed with fine weather, and very happy visitors. It is always so lovely to welcome parents and Grandparents into school, and to experience and witness first-hand what our school is like for the pupils. It is usually one of the highlights of the term for many! However, the Reception trip to Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve was also a triumph! We are really looking forward to welcoming you all to our Sports Day on Friday 28 June, and our Celebration Day on Friday 5 July. Please read below for all the details. So many fantastic events still to come in our busy term.

Join us in support of ‘Save the Rhino International’ a UK conservation charity. It is Europe’s largest single-species rhino charity. A cake sale will be held during The New Beacon Sports Day on Thursday 27 June. We encourage boys and parents to support this worthy cause. 100% of the proceeds will go this initiative.

Please bring along CASH only for your boys to enjoy some yummy treats.

Did you know?
Many of the workbooks purchased by The New Beacon that the boys use in class support Save the Rhino International. Look at the back of your son’s book and you will see their logo.

On Friday 28 June we shall be holding our Early Years Sports Day. We hope for a lovely sunny day so please ensure you apply suncream prior to coming to school. A reminder that all parents and grandparents are warmly invited to join us for the session. All Nursery children are invited to participate even if you do not attend on a Friday, please can you let me know. Please come to school at the usual time, and head up to the Upper; the field next to the flagpole, and Sports Day will be held between 9.00am and10.30am. The children will then say goodbye to you, and we shall have a fun afternoon at school until the usual pick up.

The Nursery children will need to wear their red Nursery t-shirt, own navy blue shorts, Nursery blue sweatshirt, socks and trainers. They will also need a named sunhat and named water bottle. The Reception boys will need to come to school in their white shorts, white socks, white PE tops and white trainers. They will also need their water bottle and school sun hats.

On Friday 5 July all boys from Nursery to Y4 are expected to be in school at the normal time and head to their classrooms. All parents are then invited to join our Nursery/Pre-Prep/Junior School concert in The New Beacon Centre at 10:35am, the concert will last approximately 45 minutes.

After the concert, teachers will take the boys back to their classrooms. Parents are then invited to tour around the school for our Celebration Day. We encourage you to take your son along as your ‘tour guide’ if they are not involved in any activities, and please do wander around the Middle and Senior School events to see all the exciting things that await your son on his New Beacon journey.

The school day will end at 1pm, although the children can leave with you at any time after the concert, and before lunch, however care will be in place for any boys who can’t be collected at 1pm. When leaving school, please sign your son(s) out with their teacher before taking them home. Alternatively, please let us know if you would like your son to go home with someone else.

For any boys staying from 1pm for the afternoon, lunch will be provided, and boys can be collected at their usual collection times. There will be no clubs, however Early Years Activity Club will run as normal. Please email Mrs Harding if your son will be staying for the afternoon and will be requiring lunch and also if you will require your son to attend any of the after-school club provision.

Hopefully, you will have received the order information for your son’s class photograph and whole school photograph. A proof card was given to the boys, so if you have not seen it yet, you may need to rummage in their book bags. To place an order for the class photograph you will need to visit www.gillmanandsoame.co.uk and enter the login and password listed on the card.

Please click HERE to order the whole school photograph.

Next week the whole school is celebrating diversity. We are asking the whole school to wear one item of multicoloured clothing. As this is on the same day as our Sports Day, please bring this item of clothing with you and we shall get dressed into it, AFTER Sports Day.

It has been Drowning Prevention Week (DPW) last and this week which aims to equip everybody across the UK and Ireland with the skills and knowledge, to make the right decisions about water safety. Click HERE for further information. The boys swimming lessons have been a little different but they all had lots of fun learning and of course swimming too. As we move closer to the end of the Summer Term, we look ahead to the next academic year and the Autumn Term. We will return to school on Wednesday, 4 September 2024. Apologies for the link in last week’s letter not working. This has now been resolved, but please click here to sign up for September sessions if you have not done so yet. Please make your selections before Friday 28 June.

Next week we continue with our focus on Summer, and look to ‘At the Seaside’. A trip to the beach at the weekend would be fabulous! Please can you bring in swimwear and a towel for next Friday after our Sports Day!
