What a Celebration Day! Lots of happy parents and very proud children showing you all around their school. I hope you managed to see all that The New Beacon has to offer and are excited for the years to come as you move through the school. I hope you were able to visit the Art Exhibition and see all the lovely work we have done, as well as the older talent that is on display! Following many practices, it was lovely to see the younger boys singing in the Concert with the rest of the Pre-Prep and Junior School. Standing up in front of such a big audience can be daunting but the boys sang brilliantly!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year, and wish you an enjoyable summer.  I look forward to welcoming you and the boys back in September for another exciting year.

Best wishes,

Mrs Marie Taylor
Head of Early Years

Next week we have two and a half days of fun in Nursery and Reception.

Monday – we have Move Up Monday where the new Nursery children will come in and meet their new friends, and the older Nursery children will go to Reception.  Miss Elliot is also joining us in Nursery for the session.  Current Nursery parents of the older boys will not need to come and take them over to Reception, as I shall take them with me.  The current Reception boys will move up to their Year 1 teacher.  Class lists will be published Friday evening via email.

Tuesday – we all have a normal day, but without swimming

Wednesday –  we have a shorter day and we all finish at 12. There will not be any lunch. There will be no after-school care provision on this day, as the teachers will have an INSET afternoon. As you can imagine it will be a very busy pick up, so if you want to arrive early we will be ready to say farewell. Reception children can bring in a special snack. Nursery children will be holding a special party to wish the older children good luck in Reception.

Please make sure you sons bring in a heavy duty carrier bag on the last day, to transport any belongings still in school home for the summer.

A parenting program is being offered to the parents in Early Years and Reception during the Autumn term.

Rowena Markies has been teaching at The New Beacon school for over 15 years working as a learning support teacher. She has a wide range of experience and interests in the field of neurodiversity and more recently has become a parent coach. She believes in a joined-up approach and that supporting the parent benefits the child academically and emotionally and has a positive impact on family dynamics.

Please click HERE for more information.

We will send out details of timings and a booking form at the start of next term. Parents will have an option to select the topics of interest, but we feel that it is most beneficial, if possible, to attend the whole program and enjoy the journey together.

As you can imagine, spare uniform is always useful in Nursery and Reception. If your child has outgrown their uniform, we would be very grateful to receive them.

A reminder that The New Beacon App will be the main source of information next term. Signing up for clubs, trips and activities will all be done via the App. If you are having trouble accessing it, please let Mrs Ells know and we can try to solve your issues.

3 September – 2-3pm
On 3rd September between 2-3pm we are offering an optional opportunity for boys to pop into school, say hello to their Form Teacher, remind themselves of where a desk or peg is situated and just generally take some of the worry away from the first morning of term. Boys are not required to wear uniform and must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to pop in any time between 2-3pm. The session will finish promptly at 3pm as teachers will still have a lot of work to do to prepare for the first day back.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at The Unique Story. Please ensure you return this to us on Monday if you still have it at home.
