As I write we have just had the most wonderful Celebration Day – with a number of boys in The Middle School awarded well-deserved prizes for their endeavours this year. Whilst it is wonderful to celebrate these boys’ individual achievements we, as a staff, are incredibly proud of all that every boy has done this year – both in the classroom and on the sports field, as well as in the wider context of Art, Drama, Music, etc.

In the latter part of the morning it was lovely to throw open the doors of the school to give a glimpse of daily life at The New Beacon. With such a wide array of activities taking place on a weekly basis, it is impossible to show off all that we do but I hope you at least got a taste!

As we move into the final three days of term, events continue at pace, and we still have much to look forward to. Both Y5 and 6 will have the opportunity to visit their new classrooms and Form Tutors for September on Monday (a letter with next year’s class allocation will be sent over the weekend) and Tuesday sees Y5 heading off to Duxford whilst Y6 enjoy some circus skills and a picnic here at school.

Monday also gives us an opportunity to say a proper farewell to our Y6 leavers as they head off to pastures new in September. Whilst it is always sad to say goodbye, I am sure it will be a joyous occasion as Y6 boys and families come together to share memories of their time here whilst looking ahead to their futures away from The New Beacon. They will be missed and we wish them the very best of luck.

In the meantime, I wish you all a restful weekend in advance of a busy final three days of term – and if I do not happen to see you before we break for the summer I wish both boys and parents a relaxing, restful holiday.

With best wishes,

Mr Probert
Head of Middle School
