At The New Beacon we are fortunate to have the beautiful St George’s Chapel in the grounds, dedicated by the Bishop of Rochester in 1912. There are regular Friday evening services, led by the Lay Chaplain Tom Swann and assisted by the Chapel Choir, the two year 8 Chapel Warden, staff and parents. This end-of-week service is very much a family event for those associated with the school.
Major festivals such as Christmas, Easter, Harvest Festival and Remembrance are also celebrated by all sections of the school in chapel, with the main Christmas service moving to Tonbridge School Chapel to cope with the many hundreds who attend. Each Friday a different charity benefits from the collection made during the service.
There is an Explorers Club for boys in Years 5-8 which meets four times per term to explore faith in more depth in a fun way and a Parent and Staff Prayer Group meeting informally twice per term and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
The Chapel Choir was busy during lockdown, providing virtual anthems for our various online services but we are now delighted to be back!
