Whether you’re exploring entry into our Nursery, Reception, or a later year group, our team is on hand to guide you through registration, visits, and assessments. Registration & Admissions Procedure
The New Beacon is a place of energy and success, for individual boys and for the entire school community. We know what makes boys tick, from the sensitive to the ebullient, and a clear mission, high expectations and excellent teaching lead to achievement: they can all be found in this Prep School.
Starting your child’s journey at The New Beacon begins with our nurturing and engaging Nursery, designed to provide a seamless transition into school life. We welcome boys from the age of 3, where they benefit from a warm, stimulating environment that encourages early learning through play and structured activities. Our Nursery Registration Process is separate from the main school admissions, with limited places available each year. Parents are encouraged to register early to secure a spot, with a dedicated Nursery Registration Form available to complete.

We welcome applications from boys aged 4-13, with the majority joining in Reception. Places are offered based on availability, and for those joining beyond the early years, a Taster & Assessment Day ensures we understand each child’s academic progress.
To secure a place, parents are encouraged to complete the Registration Form and pay the £100 registration fee. A final confirmation and deposit (£750) are required the year before entry, which is refunded at the end of the pupil’s time at The New Beacon.

Choosing the right school is a big decision, and our Taster & Assessment Days offer boys the chance to experience a typical day at The New Beacon. These sessions allow prospective pupils to engage in lessons, meet future classmates, and interact with teachers in a friendly and supportive setting.
For boys joining in Years 1-8, assessments help us understand their academic strengths and ensure a smooth transition. These days are designed to be enjoyable and informative, giving both parents and children confidence in their decision.
