U13's 7-a-side qualify for National Finals!
Well done to the U13 seven-a-side football team who qualified in second place for the National Finals day.
The boys went to Bede’s Senior School on Wednesday September 24th and after a somewhat poor start to the day with a draw and a defeat against Great Walstead and Vinehall respectively, the boys rallied to squeeze out of the group in second place with a 2-0 victory against St. Christopher’s. The quarter final saw The New Beacon beat a well-drilled Bede’s side and then it took penalties to triumph against Hurstpierpoint. Special mention must go to our goalkeeper who saved three or even four penalties (we lost count!!) during the course of the match and penalty shootout; heroics indeed. We then lost a very tight final against Downsend, but were comforted in the knowledge that finishing runners-up meant that we get another chance in November at Summer Fields School.
An excellent day was enjoyed by all and thank you to the families who made the long journey to Bede’s to support the team.
