All the catering here at The New Beacon is undertaken by our fantastic in-house team of chefs and dining room staff.

In charge of the team of 5 chefs and 6 dining room staff is head chef Steve Tuck. Steve has over 40 years’ experience as a chef and has been a head chef in 4 and 5-star hotels, restaurants, a private gentleman’s club and was head chef at Sevenoaks school for 3 years before joining The New Beacon. Over those years he has cooked for many members of the Royal family, distinguished members of our armed forces, famous actors, politicians, musicians, sports stars and a host of premier league football teams. He has been awarded an AA rosette and has helped judge cookery competitions.

All the food at the New Beacon is cooked fresh daily and wherever possible it is sourced locally. The lunch menus are well balanced and nutritious with fresh seasonal vegetables, freshly cut fruit and a healthy salad table is always available. Over time we have learnt what the boys like and don’t like. We incorporate these factors into the menus and introduce new flavours and ingredients to give the boys a chance to try new foods. When foods come into season, we will showcase these with a tasting table to show different ways of preparing and eating those ingredients.

We also cater for boys with any special dietary needs. These meals are prepared in a separate kitchen and served plated to the boys who come in and collect them from Corene, our diet chef.

For any boys that board overnight, there is a fresh cooked-to-order breakfast, which includes breakfast favourites alongside cereals, fruit juices and fresh fruit, to set them up for a busy day at school. We also offer a light supper menu, which has been designed with many ‘build your own’ menu items. We always value the boys feedback and try and incorporate these ideas into our menus.

The menus are changed each term so as seasonal ingredients can be incorporated into them – please follow the link above.
